The incumbent of this position is responsible for implementing and monitoring of the mental health content area within the entire program. This position will serve as the program’s behavioral intervention manager and will train appropriate personnel and provide ongoing consultation and feedback to individuals and classroom teams. Work collaboratively with parents to enhance awareness and understanding of mental wellness of children and families.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the mission and philosophy of the Head Start program. Work in partnership with families without judgment or bias, recognizing and respecting individual differences and backgrounds.

- Provide leadership and direction in planning for the training, development, and mentorship of all staff in order to meet or exceed requirements, and as a means of ensuring quality experiences for infants/toddlers, preschoolers, and their families.
- Possess good interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work as a part of a team, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, receive and provide feedback, and manage dynamic interchanges in meetings.
- Plan and provide opportunities for training and development of all staff to help them acquire or increase the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfill their job responsibilities and implement HS performance standards.
- Screen referrals for possible behavioral assessments and interventions; conduct direct observations and data collection; consult with staff of possible referrals for behavioral assessments and interventions.
- Assist with providing training and technical assistance for implementation of the Pyramid Model throughout the program.
- Establish and implement procedures for the ongoing monitoring of EHS/HS operations to ensure effective implementation of federal requirements.
- Participate in ongoing strategic planning process incorporating program data (PIR, monitoring results, outcomes, self-assessment, budget) to assess program goals and objectives, meet program requirements and promote continuous improvement.
- Responsible for the annual review and update of assigned content plan(s).
- Available to present at parent and staff meetings information about mental wellness focusing on a wide variety of topics including but not limited to: Child rearing practices, childhood fears, domestic violence, and other family issues or concerns.
- Assist staff in helping parents access community mental health resources
- Assist staff in supporting family’s participation in mental wellness interventions or activities.
- Assist and participate in the Health Advisory committee.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel when needed.
- Will maintain professional boundaries with all current, past, and prospective clients, and maintain the confidentiality of clients and staff, in accordance with CAPHR policy and procedure.
- Abide by all CAPHR Safety policies and procedures.
- Present professional and positive image as a representative of CAPHR.
- Responsible for having adequate knowledge of all CAPHR programs and will gather sufficient intake information to make referrals to other CAPHR programs which are beneficial to the client and his/her family.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
The candidate should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Psychology or related degree with experience working with children, age’s birth through five.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Head Start/Early Head Start experience is preferred.
